Conversion Strategist / Direct Response Copywriter

I’m Brian J. Pollard, and I write copy that gets the right people to buy.

Direct response copywriting is what I do: landing pages, sales pages, emails, and ads, written to move a real number, not to sound clever. You deal directly with the one person writing your copy, someone who reads every line, weighs it, and answers for it, and who won’t put a claim on your page he can’t back with a source. If your copy isn’t bringing in the buyers you want, I’ll write you copy that does.

You get an answer, not an autoresponder.

What I can do for you

Turn the visitors you already have into buyers.

I write the copy that turns the visitors you already have into customers. Maybe you’re launching a product or a service. Maybe you’re running ads, or about to. Maybe you already have a page up with visitors landing on it. Traffic’s coming, or it’s already here, and what you need is copy that closes those visitors instead of letting them drift off. It’s written for the customers you want most, in language that makes them think you’re speaking straight to them.

What I write for you

  • Landing pages that earn the next click.
  • Sales pages that close.
  • Email sequences that get opened and acted on.
  • Ads that pull the right buyer in.
  • VSLs (video sales letters) that hold attention and sell.
  • Done for you, in your voice, and handed back ready to go to work.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or replacing copy that isn’t working, I write it for you, start to finish. You tell me the offer and who it’s for, and if you want your values and the way you do business to come through, tell me that too. Then I hand you copy that’s ready to earn.

Why my process works

Most copy is aimed at everyone.
That’s why it misses.

When a page tries to speak to everyone, the buyers worth keeping never think it was written for them, and the ones who’ll never buy stay just long enough to cost you. I don’t fix that with more adjectives or louder promises. I work out exactly who your words should be sorting toward, and write to that person.

The work is grounded in evidence, not hunches. Before I write a word, I get clear on who your buyer is and what makes them act, so the copy is built on how real people decide, not on clever guesses.

And I keep it honest, because honesty is what converts. I won’t put a claim on your page that can’t be backed, and I can show you the source behind the ones that stay. Copy that overpromises is the fastest way to lose the buyer you just earned. I stand behind all of it. The calls are mine and the responsibility is mine. Software can’t be held to account for what shows up on your page. I can, so I am.

A little about me

One person, working on your copy personally.

I’m Brian J. Pollard, a direct response copywriter and conversion strategist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. I work on one client’s copy at a time, myself. No account managers, no stranger you never spoke to.

I built WordsmithDirect on a simple bet. The internet is filling up with fast, confident copy that no human stands behind. Someone who reads your words, says the honest thing, and puts a name to it is worth more than a page of polish nobody is accountable for. That’s the whole idea, and it’s why you can see my face, my email, and my phone number right here.

I wrote the book on this

The method behind your copy is the same one I put in my own book, The Quiet Killers of Copy. If you’d like to see how I think before we ever talk, that’s the fastest way.

Contact

Talk to me directly.

A short email is the easiest way in. Tell me a little about your business, what you’re selling and who it’s for, and where you’d like to take it. Even a few rough lines will do, and if you already have a brief or an outline, better still. That way we both come to the conversation ready, and neither of us spends a call warming up to it.

If it looks like a fit, we’ll set up a time to talk, usually a focused 30 to 45 minutes on your copy and what you need. You’ll be working with me the whole time, with no one else in between. And if we’re not a fit, I’ll tell you honestly and point you the right way if I can.
